answered the door. there was an argument and then a shot was fired. the teen died at a local hospital. his family says he was going to be a father and thought he had some trouble. they just don't know who could have killed him. no word on a possible suspect or motive in this case. relief for two virginia families whose loved ones had gown missing while hiking out west. they had gone like at glacier national park in montana. they were supposed to head back to virginia on friday but did not board their plane. search and rescue crews found them late yesterday afternoon. they had fallen down a ravine, rationed their remaining food and drink and used their gear to survive the freezing weather. >> pandemonium broke out. we were all screaming, they found them, they found them. and tears were -- i said oh, are you sure because i soaked your shirt. i hadn't really cried yet because i felt in my gut that

consulate in libya. republicans are accusing the obama administration of covering up the truth about the attacks. clinton says the state department, not the white house is responsible for any security lapses. >> i'm responsible for the state department for the more than 60,000 people around the world. the decisions about security assets are made by security professionals. but we're going to review everything to make sure that we're doing what needs to be done in an increasingly risky environment around the world. >> during the vice presidential debate last week, vice president joe biden says he was never told that the consulate requested more security. the investigation continues into a string of cyberattacks. it slowed access sees to imron line banking for millions of customers. dame of service attacks hit several major barges. now, u.s. officials are saying it appears the attacks came out of iran and that they were carried out by hackers working

welcome back. d.c., remember those days? a couple of years ago. d.c. getting ready for the winter, of course. it is that time of year and yesterday, councilmember mary cheh held a hearing to discuss the district's snow plan. got to have a plan. the winter of 2009 and 2010 were tough ones with unblizzard in december and two back-to- back storms in february. accu-weather predict we could be in for above normal snowfall this win the year every time this is a forecast of precipitation and cool weather, we need to be proactive and send people out. so last year, even though we had virtually no snow, we still have h. to mobilize eleven times because there was a forecast of snow. >> and another winter weather outlook will be issued in a few week which may give city leaders a better idea of what

reagan national. we have fallen to 54 degrees. noticeably cooler than we were 24 hours ago. just off to the north and west, 46. 48 out at dulles. 48 in manassas and fredericksburg. leonardtown, you just dropped two degrees. 48degrees for you as well in southern maryland. cooler start to the day. winds will be picking up out of the north and west. it won't be a blustery day but we'll have breezes out of the north and west gusting to about 15 miles per hour. that will lock in the cool. kids headed to the bus stop, expect dry conditions. you will probably want to bring along the jacket. nice and quiet. got a little bit of ground clutter here, a little bit of moisture and a little fog in spots out to the west. we mentioned the fog. the fog should quickly burn off in spots where we're watching it develop and then we should be in for a bright and sunny day today across the mid- atlantic as our cold front from yesterday, that is what brought us the rain shower activity, there you go, has pushed off to the north and east now pushing up into cape cod. a little bit of cloud cover hanging in the mountains that

markets. lauren simonetti with fox business network. don't tell anybody why air standing outside just yet. we'll get to that in a moment. first, let's talk about the markets, we're doing okay, right? >> pretty good start to the week, wisdom. i am on wall street surrounded by banks and huge financial institutions. and yesterday, the dow was up 95 points. up arrows for the other averages as well. earning season really coming in fierce this week. we'll hear from nearly half of the dow 30 and a good portion of the s&p 500 so city bank's numbers were teasent yesterday and well that plus solid retail sales and we had a rally on wall street. >> now, the most important question of the day, tell us why you are outside. you are surrounded by the banks with your warm clothe on. tell us why you are outside because this has to do with national bosses day. >> if you go a couple of feet behind me, you see a dunk tank

welcome back. it is 6:30 right now on a chilly start to our tuesday. >> we cooled off. front came through last night and brought you the rain showers. our temperatures have fallen back into the 40s and low 50s. kids running out the door to the bus stop will want to bring along a jacket. it will be cool today. even later this afternoon, our high temperatures will only top out in the mid-60s. we are in for a cooler weather pattern for the next couple of days. we had some rain showers move through yesterday. we've quieted down overnight. lots of sunshine expected. still got about an hour until the sun gets up. once it does so, it should be a beautiful looking day. it will be a little breezy at time with winds north and west

accident scene. well before potomac mills if you are in a becomeup headed to i-95. northbound i-95, again, here in lorton, the left side of roadway is blocked just north of lorton. accident activity there with fire and rescue units on the scene. that will keep new a backup out of woodbridge. once you get past the crash at the prince william parkway, the pace does not improve because it is still slow moving headed up to the accident scene here. even our hov lanes gridlocked here because of appear accident at the franconia springfield parkway. accident northbound in lorton tying up the left side of the highway once again. that's a check of your fox 5 on-timetraffic. imetraffic. president obama and republican presidential nominee mitt romney will face off in their second presidential

debate tonight being held at hofstra university in long island, new york. now this, time, the format is a town hall style setting. so audience members will be able to ask questions directly to the candidates. for mitt romney, it is a chance to show his first debate was in the a fluke and for president obama, it is a chance to regroup after what he admits was a less than stellar performance. >> he has to work against that. that is very important for him. that is not very difficult to do. that is the easiest thing to do is not show up the way he showed up in denver. of course, now, the shoe is on the other foot. now, he has got to worry about living up to expectations and the next day's story is not just obama did better. >> tonight's presidential debate begins at 9:00 p.m. president obama and the first lady announced they are both voting early in a move to promote the campaign's efforts to push for absentee and early voting.

live in northwest with the details. good question. >> reporter: good question, that's right, sarah. some low income residents and motorist don't have the discretionary income to pay speeding fines that could be as high as $250. that is why councilmembers mary cheh and tommy wells said they wanted to revisit the issue of the cost of those speeding tickets. we are here on 16ing on the street. this is a very heavily traveled route into town. so those speeding cameras you see over there just south of kennedy street are no doubt quite the revenue produce fore the city. then again, you do have the motor i haves who slow down right before the cameras and speed up when they get by them but cheh and wells have organized a special task force thats been looking into how to lower fines while being consistent about safety and enforcement. the task force included aaa mid

you can see the 40s breaking out to the west, manassas and dulles, 48 degrees. kind of a cool start to your day. noticeably cooler than what we had around here yesterday. the other thing you will notice is the cooler temperatures, the breezes. they will big up out of the north and west. they will be with us for the first half of the day. radar, nice and quiet. rain showers yesterday pushing off to the east and to the north. they are out of here and we're looking at much quieter conditions today. should be a lot of sunshine. a little fog out to the west but once that burns off, should be a lot of sunshine back in the area. a nice couple of days. the weather pattern setting up to an real nice not only today but for much of the middle of the week. showers pushing up north and east of new york pushing up towards boston. that is about t a few clouds you out to the west. our trend will be to increase is sunshine around here for your tuesday. why? high pressure. that will be moving overhead later tonight. won be shocked if we don't have some more frost advisories well

the chuck wagon. he realized you could feed people on the move. so he is credited with developing the chuck wagon. that developed in the late 1806s. so come 1869 and a football game between princeton and rutgers, they had the first actual tailgating that took place. it wasn't tailgating because they didn't have cars. everybody shows up with their picnics and the rutgers supporters dressed in their colors. the first time that had ever happened before. so it all evolved and then the colleges over the past hundred years and now professional teams got big into tailgating. my theory is this. sunday being most people have the day off. baseball games are played seven das a week basically. a lot of them are at night. you don't have time. you are going to work, showing up for a quick beer in the parking lost you can prepare all weak long for your tailgate festivities for football. inthat is why it is much more prevalent with football. also, the tradition started with football. >> i had no idea it could be

>> speaking of tailgating, i think a lot of folks with have their breakfast out here. three stents have popped up on us northbound on i-95. one accident involve a motorcycle in the hov lanes before you reach 286. the second accident in the main line before you reach 286, the fairfax county parkway as well. almost in the same spot, we have two separate accidents northbound on i-95. overall, we had the crash. we can go ahead and pull up the live shot from sky fox if you can. i've got accident activity in the main line before you reach newington, left side of the roadway is blocked. notice the center of your screen. gridlocked traffic right now out of woodbridge headed up towards 286. accident activity there involving the motorcycle had the left lane blocked off there as well. again be major tie-ups coming from quantico headed from springfield. 58 to father hurley, about a 45 minute commute headed into germantown out of frederick. ut

on the phone with v-d.o.t. eastbound freeway at south capital street, had reports of an accident there. checking for an incident across the sousa bridge. so far, come up empty handed. that's a check of your fox 5 on-time traffic. a homeless man is being hailed as a lifesaver in oklahoma city. you see a woman and her fiance were just 15 minutes away from the hospital when she went into labor at a truck stop thursday night. she gave birth in her car but the baby girl had her umbilical cord wrapped around her neck. a homeless man saw what was happening and jumped into to help. paramedics say the man saved the infant's life by freeing her neck, untying the umbilical cord and rubbing her back. le -- the little girl and mom are doing fine. still ahead on fox 5 morning news, the big event known for its horse races. >> but horse racing isn't all the international gold cup is all about. holly morris has more on that
